I have no idea why Hamels admitted to that beaning either. Zimmerman returned the favor in kind when Hamels was up there to bunt but you certainly didn't hear him admitting that.

I guess since he can well afford the fine - and he suspected he wouldn't get anymore than a 5 game suspension thereby not really affecting their rotation, he just went with it.

It's really awesome to see. I gave them no hope to break 70 wins and it shows they don't care about my opinion. April was also a very tough schedule. Imagine how they would be if their offense actually heated up?

Hey, Connor, enjoy your stuff. I've been heading a web site for years caleed rotoimbeciles.com. It's main focus is fantasy baseball but there's a lot of other topics. People have called it a unique site. What I have to say about Pelfrey isn't for the faint of heart. I did read something mentioning Pelfrey's contract isn't guaranteed, so the Mets could cut him and recover three-quarters of his $5.6875 million salary. It would be the right move for the cash starved Mets but I don’t see them doing that. If you go back a few months you’ll see that I called the signing of Pelfrey a terrible decision. John Lannan, at $5-mil, is starting to look underpaid in comparison! Instead, they’ll send him out there every fifth day to absorb punishment. I guess for just under $6-mil, I could go out there and get bombarded too. Maybe the Wilpons haven’t seen his spring numbers. Unfortunately, I have! In 9 2/3 IP, Pelfrey has given up 16 ER, 12 HA, a 4/6 K/BB, and a 14.90/2.28 ERA/WHIP. The Mets would be better off having top prospect Matt Harvey learn on the job. Pelfrey has had 2 decent seasons in even years (’08, ’10) and this happens to be an even year. But I still would cut bait. What’s telling is now that we’re getting down to the scrubinis in my mixed league draft, Pelfrey is still on the board. I was actually going to call his name out first in my $360-NL auction but I’m afraid that I would get stuck with him! Pelfrey was the ninth overall pick of the 2005 draft, right before Cameron Maybin (10), Andrew McCutchen (11), and Jay Bruce (12). Over his career Pelfrey has a sickening 493/314 K/BB in 876 2/3 IP, with 965 HA, a 4.40/1.46 ERA/WHIP, and a 50-54 career record. My advice to fantasy owners is to stay far away from Pelfrey in 2012. Oh yeah, typo on my part with the RBI.

About the over under: I put it lower than what many other people are predicting (maybe too low), but with mostly young guys leading the team, I would expect some inconsistency from the Nats. The over/under should be 82 and I would expect 85, especially if the Mets are bad this year... which it looks like they may be.

Good stuff. A few points, though. Michael Morse had 95 RBI last year, not 73. Also, the folks in Las Vegas, who make their living coming up with the best over-under numbers for wagering, set theirs at 82 for the Nats.

I'd love to see the Mets have a better record than everyone but the Nats this year in the NL East, but I think their best hope is to pass an underachieving Marlins team. If Reyes, Zambrano, Ramirez and manager Guillen make too volatile a brew, then they might disintegrate in spite of their apparent talent.

The odds say that this won't affect him much if at all. I think it was mentioned by him that somewhere around 40% of people in Arizona get it in their lifetime and most don't even know it. Conor Jackson, a former D-Backs first baseman, had it a few years ago and it limited him to 30 games that season. That was an extreme case. Nobody is even completely sure he has it yet. The blood test for it came back negative. We'll have to wait and see if he even has it.

I was never a big Gary Carter fan and am not sure that he really had HOF numbers BA .262 1200 RB! but I never doubted that he had HOF desire...he ALWAYS gave 100% on the field and for his determination and desire I truly respected him as a true professional...May he rest in peace....

I could not agree with you more about Pelfry!! I am really surprised that Sandy would do this!! Not only did Pelfry's record not warrant an increase he also proved that he is a head case that if they don't straighten him out could see him decoming anothe AJ Burnett..a pitcher with great skills but unable to pitch to his potential!!!

Actually many have said he's great. The Boggs, Williams, Rose, ... coparisons were all made over at Metsblog. Many compared his fielding to Hernandez. Lots of HOF talk there too. Look here, a B+? Really.
